It All Started With a Dance
We first met through mutual friends, crossing paths at an engagement party, on the road, and finally, at a friend’s wedding. That’s where everything changed. Luke found Jessica on the dance floor, and from that moment, we haven’t stopped choosing each other. (Though, these days, Luke’s dancing is strictly reserved for the living room—Jessica hopes she can talk him into staying on the dance floor for a few songs!
The First Date and the First Yes
Our first date was that same night—October 27, 2019—at Bastion, a bar we loved for its vinyl records and great nachos. It was casual and fun, but it set the tone for something much bigger. A week later, Luke made things official. After a late night folding laundry together (yes, really), he sent Jessica flowers with a note that read, “I miss you and this is my silly way of seeing if you want to do this and be my girlfriend.” She said yes, and that was it!
Early Adventures
We took our first trip to New York City about a month later. The dinner was incredible, the conversation easy, and Jessica knew she wanted to tell Luke she loved him. She hesitated, wondering if it was too soon. Luke, on the other hand, dove right in and said, “I love you too” . Jessica was thrilled and never said anything back! Just knowing Luke knew how she felt set her at ease. The cab ride to a Christmas-themed bar was silent… on Luke’s side, anyway. Jessica couldn’t stop talking about how happy she was. Finally, Luke cut her off: “YOU DIDN’T SAY IT BACK!” Jessica, of course, quickly did, and we laughed the rest of the night away.
Building a Life Together
Family means everything to us, second only to our dogs. Whether it’s taking walks, traveling, or just enjoying a quiet night at home, we’ve built a life full of love and laughter. We’ve celebrated milestones like getting our dog Blue, moving in together, and meeting each other’s families. Luke has shown up for Jessica and her family in ways that go beyond words, especially during tough times, and we’ve grown stronger as a team through it all.
The Proposal
Luke proposed on Christmas Eve after a long family dinner where our parents met for the first time. Jessica had no idea what was coming—she was ready to call it a night. But under the glow of the Christmas tree, with Phil Collins’ “I Can’t Stop Loving You” playing (our song), Luke got down on one knee. It was quiet and personal, just the way we always imagined it would be. The next morning, everything felt different. It wasn’t just an engagement—it was a deeper commitment to the life we were building together.
What We Love About Each Other
Jessica loves Luke’s drive, his loyalty, and the way he dreams big for their future. She knows he’ll be an amazing partner and father, and he makes her feel safe to be exactly who she is. Luke loves how Jessica keeps him grounded and supports him through everything life throws their way. They balance each other, they’re best friends, and they’re always a team.
